David,

I'm very sorry to hear about your problem with your Prius's battery. I had been thinking of replacing one of my cars with a Prius, no longer; instead I will post this on our green blog at work.

I have kids in college - I couldn't afford $3,700 to replace the batteries in that car, not for quite a while.

If this had happened to me, I'd park that Prius by the side of the road next to the Toyota dealership, put a great big lemon magnetic sign on the side of the car, and also a 'Don't ever buy one' sign on it - then I'd call the local tv station and see if I could get them to film it.

And a one year warranty on the replacement? You mean I might have to pay for this again in a year and a half?
I knew people who drove Vegas - replacing transmissions every 30,000 miles, even they didn't pay as much.

You don't know if there isn't something else in the electrical system that is causing the batteries to fail - I'd sell the car before sinking more money into that lemon.
Good Luck,
Albert
